Motion designer in Vancouver, BC
I am Jorge Feres, a senior motion designer and creative technologist based in Vancouver, and RISO is my practice. I have worked here since 2015, across the local technology, games and advertising sectors, with Unity, Titmouse and DEPT among them.
What I build is motion infrastructure and production tooling: the systems, templates and documentation that let a product or brand team produce consistent motion without rebuilding it every release. Most engagements run remotely, and for local teams the workshop and handoff sessions happen in person.
Why this work fits Vancouver
Vancouver’s creative sector is unusually dense in exactly the industries that generate motion at volume: games, visual effects, animation and a growing B2B software scene. That produces teams shipping constantly, with brand and product surfaces that multiply faster than any one designer can hand-animate.
It also means there is no shortage of craft here. What is scarcer is someone whose job is the structure underneath it: the timing scale, the template set, the documentation that lets six people produce work that looks like one person made it.
Pacific time is a practical advantage too. It overlaps the whole North American working day and hands off cleanly to European teams the next morning.

Working together in Vancouver
Are you available for on-site work in Vancouver?
Yes. For teams in Metro Vancouver, I can work on-site for workshops, kickoffs and system handoff sessions, which are the parts of the work that genuinely benefit from being in a room. Ongoing production runs remotely.
Do you only work with Vancouver companies?
No. Vancouver is home base and most clients are elsewhere in North America and Europe. Pacific time overlaps well with both US coasts and gives European teams a morning handover.
What kinds of Vancouver companies do you work with?
Mostly B2B SaaS and technology companies with in-house design or brand teams. The local tech and games sector produces exactly the kind of high-volume, fast-shipping work that motion systems are built for.
Do you take contract or full-time roles?
The practice is set up for project work, retainers and fractional creative direction rather than full-time employment. For teams that need embedded senior capacity, a retainer usually covers it.
